Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing team, specializing in construction defect litigation. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with a passion for litigation and a desire to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of construction defect law. This position offers opportunities for growth and the chance to handle a variety of complex construction-related claims from pre-litigation through trial and/or arbitration. The firm offers a collaborative work environment with flexible hybrid work options.

Location:

  • Berkeley, CA

Duties:

  • Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and correspondence with clients.
  • Interview clients and witnesses to gather case information.
  • Draft written discovery and responses.
  • Perform legal research and analysis to support case development.
  • Summarize witness testimony, court hearings, and legal proceedings.
  • Prepare and attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court hearings.
  • Advocate for clients in trial and arbitration proceedings.

Requirements:

  • Strong writing, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with construction defect litigation (preferred).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with construction law and related litigation processes.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • California State Bar license (required).

Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research and case preparation.
  • Strong ability to draft legal pleadings and discovery documents.
  • Knowledge of construction defect law and litigation.
  • Ability to maintain client relationships and effectively communicate case developments.
