Job Overview:
A well-established criminal defense law firm is seeking a dynamic and experienced Criminal Trial Attorney to join its legal team in Sarasota, Florida. This role is ideal for a trial-ready litigator with a background in prosecution or public defense. The attorney will handle a variety of criminal matters across multiple jurisdictions and must be comfortable with courtroom litigation, including jury trials. Travel to additional office locations in the region will be required.

Location:

  • Sarasota, FL

Duties:

  • Represent clients in criminal court proceedings, including jury trials

  • Handle pre-trial motions, evidentiary hearings, and sentencing

  • Develop and implement effective defense strategies

  • Conduct legal research and draft motions and memoranda

  • Maintain client communication and case documentation

  • Travel to other firm office locations as needed for hearings and client representation

Requirements:

  • 3–4 years of experience as an attorney in the Public Defender’s or State Attorney’s Office

  • Substantial jury trial experience is required

  • Willingness to travel between firm offices on Florida's west coast

  • Strong courtroom presence and litigation skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Florida (required)
