Remote Consumer Debt Defense Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a remote, full-time Consumer Debt Defense Attorney licensed in New York to provide legal representation to clients involved in debt collection lawsuits. This position is based in Southfield, MI, but allows for telecommuting from any location.

Duties

• Represent and defend clients in collection cases initiated by creditors or debt buyers.
• Provide limited-scope legal assistance, including reviewing and editing pro se answer drafts.
• Engage in debt resolution programs to settle through voluntary payment arrangements.
• Option to attend hearings or secure local coverage counsel when necessary.

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing with the New York Bar.
• At least 5 years of civil litigation experience.
• Experience in consumer debt defense and/or collections preferred.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• License to practice law in the state of New York.

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
