Job Overview

A law firm seeks a compassionate and dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their EOIR Removal Defense team in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is eager to grow professionally, and is ready to make a meaningful impact on clients' lives while leading their support team.

Duties

  • Represent clients in EOIR Removal Defense.
  • Assess relief eligibility and develop case strategy.
  • Identify additional relief options such as family petitions and U-Visas.
  • Manage caseload of Affirmative Asylum and EOIR proceedings.
  • Draft, review, and file petitions, motions, and briefs.
  • Represent clients at various hearings, both in-person and virtual.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and trials.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and cases resolved promptly.
  • Lead and mentor paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Collaborate with team members for excellent case management.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. state (CA preferred).
  • 1-3 years of immigration law experience (Removal Defense/EOIR preferred).
  • Experience with Master and Individual hearings strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, not required.
  • Proficient in electronic case management.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Bar admission in any U.S. state (California preferred).

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication.
  • Proficiency in electronic case management systems.
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
