Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm, located in Columbus, OH, is seeking a highly skilled Associate Attorney to join its expanding civil litigation team. The successful candidate will handle a broad range of complex legal issues across multiple practice areas, including product liability, personal injury, toxic tort, construction, commercial, and transportation litigation. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a dedicated attorney to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment while contributing to the firm's ongoing success.

Duties:

  • Manage and litigate cases across local municipal, common pleas, state, and federal courts
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents including briefs and memoranda, and provide strategic legal advice
  • Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations
  • Work closely with senior attorneys and clients to develop case strategies and ensure timely progression of cases
  • Manage a diverse caseload independently, meeting deadlines and ensuring all case materials are well-prepared
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, utilizing electronic filing and document management systems
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive work environment

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in Ohio (licensure in additional states is a plus)
  • A minimum of 4 years of litigation experience
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, especially for briefs and legal memoranda
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience handling court appearances and depositions is preferred
  • Ability to manage a caseload and deadlines independently
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for case management

Education:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active licensure to practice law in Ohio (Additional state licenses are a plus)

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and electronic filing systems
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities
