Corporate Associate (Non-Profit Focus)

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Corporate Associate with a focus on non-profit entities for its Detroit, MI office. The ideal candidate will have over four years of experience in corporate matters related to tax-exempt entities and nonprofit organizations.

Duties

• Represent clients throughout the lifecycle of a nonprofit entity.
• Provide board governance advice and legal entity formation analysis.
• Create templates and prepare IRS exemption applications.
• Advise on unrelated business taxable income.
• Draft and negotiate contracts.
• Conduct state and federal tax-specific research.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience with corporate matters for tax-exempt entities.
• Experience with charitable gifts and planned giving is a plus.
• Licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan.
• Detail-oriented with a solid work ethic.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong academic credentials.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Michigan.
