Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Commodities, Futures & Derivatives Counsel in [City/State]. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice on commodities, futures, and derivatives law, including regulatory, compliance, and transactional support to clients.

Duties

  • Advise clients on all aspects of commodities and derivatives transactions, including futures, swaps, and options.
  • Provide legal guidance on compliance with CFTC, SEC, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate trading agreements, master agreements (ISDA, NAESB), credit support annexes, and other related documentation.
  • Assist clients in navigating complex regulatory and compliance issues under the Dodd-Frank Act, Commodity Exchange Act, and other applicable laws.
  • Represent clients in investigations and enforcement proceedings.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and advise on adaptation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with other practice groups within the firm to deliver integrated legal solutions.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in one or more US states.
  • At least 10 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, regulatory agency, or in-house role specializing in commodities and derivatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of the regulatory landscape governing commodities and derivatives markets.
  • Proven track record of handling complex transactions and compliance issues.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in one or more US states.
