Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Senior Associate Attorney in Houston, TX. The role involves managing a diverse range of personal and commercial injury cases, ensuring effective client representation, and maintaining open communication. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in personal injury law, including case management, trial experience, and negotiation skills, along with proficiency in legal documentation and court procedures.

Duties

  • Manage a diverse mix of personal and commercial injury cases from intake to resolution.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and demand letters.
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including expert and fact depositions.
  • Represent clients in court, including hearings and trials.
  • Lead negotiations with opposing parties to reach favorable settlements.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients based on their cases.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and team members for case progression.
  • Review and prepare critical case documents.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case files and records.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff.
  • Assist in client development through quality work and referrals.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in personal injury law.
  • In-depth understanding of personal injury law and trial procedures.
  • Proficiency in legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to mentor junior attorneys or paralegals.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents and conducting depositions.
  • Experienced in negotiations and settlement discussions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Civil jury trial experience, including 1st and 2nd chair roles.

Plus Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in personal injury law is a plus.
  • Fluency or proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience with class actions, mass torts, commercial litigation, and first-party claims is a plus.
