Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate specializing in Real Estate Administrative Law in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have experience in rent regulation, landlord/tenant disputes, and real estate administrative agency law matters. They should be adept at handling cases before various administrative bodies and courts, with a strong understanding of deregulation and affordable housing issues.

Duties

  • Research and draft legal documents, including Art 78 and agency replies.
  • Perform administrative due diligence and provide advice on Rent Stabilization Law.
  • Litigate cases before DHCR, NYC Commission on Human Rights, and other bodies.
  • Participate in marketing efforts, including drafting publications.
  • Adhere to firm policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Active New York State Bar license in good standing.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in real estate administrative or landlord/tenant law.
  • Deep knowledge of Rent Stabilization Law and Code.
  • Experience with Fair Housing and NYC Human Rights Law is a plus.
  • Strong negotiating, analytical, and research skills.
  • Interest in working collaboratively and handling diverse tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and writing skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.

Certifications

  • Active New York State Bar license.

Skills

  • Strong negotiating and analytical skills.
