Job Overview:
A growing civil litigation and family law firm based in Arlington, Virginia is seeking a Litigation Attorney with 3–5 years of experience to handle a range of family law and civil litigation matters. This role is ideal for attorneys who want greater autonomy over case strategy and client relationships, while working in a flexible environment that values work-life balance. The firm offers a collaborative culture with no billable hour minimum and encourages ownership of client matters from start to finish.

Location:

  • Arlington, Virginia

Duties:

  • Represent clients in family law matters including custody, visitation, child/spousal support, divorce, and protective orders

  • Handle civil litigation matters such as business disputes, defamation, consumer protection, landlord/tenant, and general contract issues

  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, and discovery documents

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda and correspondence

  • Represent clients in Virginia state courts including JDR and Circuit Courts

  • Counsel clients on settlement options, litigation strategy, and court procedures

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds

  • Collaborate with colleagues while managing cases independently

  • Participate in firm-related legal writing or blog initiatives (preferred)

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of post-law school litigation experience (Virginia courts preferred)

  • Experience handling civil and/or family law matters from start to finish

  • Courtroom litigation experience in Virginia state courts

  • Ability to independently manage client files and litigation strategy

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities

  • Professional communication skills with clients of all levels

  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality legal representation

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Skills:

  • Litigation and trial advocacy

  • Legal writing and drafting

  • Client communication and negotiation

  • Organizational and time-management skills

  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently

  • Spanish language proficiency (preferred)

  • DC Bar admission (preferred)
