Job Overview

A law firm seeks an associate attorney to join its Assessment Recovery group in Columbus, OH. This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth and advancement, handling matters related to assessment recovery, money judgments, bankruptcy, judgment execution, foreclosure, and other real property issues. The attorney will engage in substantial client contact and public speaking.

Duties

  • Manage a high project load and administrative staff.
  • Independently handle a diverse case load, including assigned and personally originated cases.
  • Chair client corporate meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Advise clients on case status and manage electronic task lists and billing.
  • Draft complaints and answers, conduct discovery, prepare witnesses, and manage trial preparation and conduct.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice law in Ohio.
  • 0-5 years of relevant litigation experience in real estate, corporate, or contract law, or in representing governmental organizations in litigation-based civil matters.
  • Demonstrated dedication and hard work in prior roles.
  • Experience with Microsoft operating systems and sophisticated software.
  • Availability during business hours, evenings, and weekends for client meetings.
  • Excellent personal skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Ohio.

Skills

  • Proficiency in all phases of litigation, including drafting, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial conduct.
