Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A prominent law firm located in San Francisco, California, is seeking an Associate Attorney with at least two years of litigation experience or clerkship background to join a dynamic team focused on impactful environmental litigation. This firm is committed to holding polluters accountable and representing states, counties, cities, and non-profit organizations in high-stakes legal matters. The role offers the opportunity to engage in challenging and mission-driven cases, with an emphasis on teamwork, leadership, and professional growth.

Duties:

  • Lead and contribute to complex environmental litigation cases.
  • Investigate and analyze legal claims related to environmental damages.
  • Engage in all stages of discovery, including document review, depositions, and motions.
  • Interview fact witnesses, scientific experts, and other key individuals.
  • Draft and file legal documents such as motions, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Represent clients in state and federal court appearances and hearings.
  • Prepare for trial and assist in case strategy development.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff on case strategies.
  • Continuously develop and refine legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of relevant litigation experience, or judicial clerkship experience.
  • Experience handling environmental or public interest cases is a plus.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex cases and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex issues clearly and persuasively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (preferably California).

Skills:

  • Litigation & case management expertise.
  • Legal research and writing proficiency.
  • Public speaking and court appearance skills.
  • Ability to handle complex and high-pressure cases.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
