Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for their Public Entity Labor and Employment Practice Group in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor and employment law, particularly within the public sector, and demonstrate excellent legal research and writing skills.

Duties

  • Handle labor and employment matters for public and private clients.
  • Prepare cases for trial or arbitration, including participation in proceedings.
  • Conduct depositions and manage discovery processes.
  • Support senior attorneys with legal advice and memorandum preparation.
  • Develop and execute litigation plans independently.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in labor and employment law.
  • Experience with public sector clients or a strong interest in public sector work.
  • Proficiency in public sector labor law, including collective bargaining and PERB proceedings.
  • Strong writing skills, particularly in drafting motions for summary judgment.
  • Ability to manage written discovery with limited supervision.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.
