Job Overview

A reputable law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join its legal team. The ideal candidate will provide legal counsel, conduct legal research, draft documents, and manage litigation cases. This role offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and collaborate with experienced attorneys in a dynamic legal environment.

Location

  • Houston, TX

Duties

  • Meet with current and potential clients to assess legal needs

  • Manage a docket of litigation cases from inception to resolution

  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence

  • Draft and respond to discovery requests

  • Prepare clients for depositions and mediation

  • Represent clients in court, hearings, and trials

Requirements

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Ability to build rapport with clients and work independently

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and legal software

  • Knowledge of Texas procedural law and the litigation process

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Texas

  • Member of the American Bar Association (ABA)

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and litigation skills

  • Effective time management and case organization

  • Ability to handle multiple cases in a fast-paced environment

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
