Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Employment Attorney in Los Angeles, CA, to manage all employment-related legal matters, including litigation. The role involves advising the HR team and business leaders on employment and labor law issues such as discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage and hour laws. The attorney will report directly to the firm's President.

Duties

  • Develop and manage litigation and claims portfolio from inception to conclusion.
  • Oversee outside counsel and advise management on legal matters.
  • Represent the firm in front of regulatory and enforcement authorities.
  • Advise on labor and employment-related matters, including policy issues and employee relations.
  • Provide training on key employment law issues.
  • Research and implement compliance procedures and best practices.
  • Lead educational efforts on employment best practices.

Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years of substantive labor and employment experience.
  • Experience as an In-House Employment Law Attorney or Employment Defense Attorney preferred.
  • Experience handling labor and employment matters before courts and agencies.
  • Superb legal writing and research skills.
  • Knowledge of Labor & Employment law and California legal procedures.

Education

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Barred in the state of California with good standing.

Skills

  • Expertise in Labor & Employment law.
  • Strong negotiation and resolution skills.
  • Ability to provide preventive advice and counseling.
