Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate to join the Tax group of its national Public Finance practice in Spokane, WA. This role is ideal for an attorney with experience or interest in public finance, tax (Section 103), and tax-exempt bonds, offering the opportunity to work closely with experienced partners in a collaborative environment.

Duties

  • Conduct tax-related due diligence for municipal bonds.
  • Draft tax documents, forms, and closing certifications.
  • Review tax disclosure for official statements.
  • Advise on tax-favored structuring of municipal debt financings.
  • Assist with arbitrage rebate compliance.
  • Represent clients in IRS examinations of bond issues.
  • Provide advice on tax accounting of bond payments.
  • Assist with tax matters concerning interest rate swap transactions.
  • Counsel on miscellaneous tax issues related to bonds.
  • Research tax law changes and prepare informational documents.

Requirements

Education

  • Admitted to practice in Washington or Nebraska, or able to be admitted within the first year.
  • 1+ years of experience in public finance or tax law preferred.
  • LL.M. in taxation preferred but not required.

Certifications

  • Active bar license in good standing.
