Job Overview

A law firm seeks a commercial litigation associate attorney to join its Birmingham, Alabama office. The position involves a diverse commercial litigation practice, focusing on business disputes, real estate and construction matters, and complex contract litigation.

Duties

  • Represent regional and national clients in breach-of-contract, business-tort, and shareholder/partnership disputes.
  • Handle real estate litigation involving lease enforcement, collections, title and boundary disputes, and property-rights issues.
  • Manage construction-related matters, including defect claims, project-delay issues, and storm-water/surface-water disputes.
  • Engage in commercial transactions and workouts requiring strategic litigation planning or pre-suit resolution.
  • Conduct creditors' rights, foreclosure, and enforcement proceedings.
  • Provide general business counseling and risk mitigation for corporate and real-estate clients.
  • Draft motions and pleadings, manage discovery, conduct depositions, prepare witnesses, and support trials and arbitrations in state and federal courts.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in commercial, real-estate, or construction matters.
  • Alabama Bar admission or immediate eligibility for admission.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and oral-advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Sound judgment and professionalism in client interactions and strategic decision-making.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Alabama State Bar.

Skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
