Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly qualified Litigation Attorney in Tallahassee, FL. The ideal candidate will handle a high volume of personal injury cases, working independently and representing clients zealously in and out of court. Extensive experience with motions practice in personal injury litigation is essential, whether on the defense or plaintiff's side.

Duties

• Review cases transitioned from the pre-litigation team to assess legal viability.
• Develop strategic litigation plans to maximize client results.
• Draft and file complaints, motions, and other pleadings.
• Prepare and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
• Take and defend depositions of witnesses, clients, experts, and opposing parties.
• Collaborate with medical and financial experts to develop evidence.
• Draft, argue, and defend various motions, including Motions for Summary Judgment.
• Handle evidentiary hearings, pre-trial motions, and case management conferences.
• Represent clients in mediation and settlement conferences.
• Prepare for jury and bench trials, including trial briefs and witness preparation.
• Advocate for clients in trial through opening statements, direct/cross examinations, and closing arguments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of litigation experience, preferably in personal injury law.
• Proven track record of handling civil litigation cases from filing through trial.
• Extensive experience in discovery, depositions, and motions practice.
• Strong background in settlement negotiations, mediation, and arbitration.
• Ability to manage a heavy litigation caseload and meet tight deadlines.
• Skilled in mentoring and supervising junior attorneys and support staff.
• Strong collaboration with pre-litigation teams for seamless case transitions.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active State of Florida and/or Georgia bar membership.

Skills

• Deep knowledge of personal injury law, tort law, and civil procedure.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Proficiency in case management software.
• Excellent oral advocacy skills for court appearances and trials.
• Ability to communicate complex legal matters to clients clearly.
