A law firm seeks an Entry Level Criminal Defense Associate Attorney in Oakland, CA. Duties

  • Maintain confidentiality and objectivity in all client interactions.
  • Prepare for hearings, research issues, and provide strategic advice to clients.
  • Advocate for clients to secure the best possible outcomes.
  • Stay informed on changes in the law and apply post-conviction remedies.
  • Advise clients on the direct and collateral consequences of their cases.
  • Draft and submit motions and filings on time.
  • Maintain professional attire and punctuality for work and court appearances.
  • Build and maintain a respectful rapport with clients.
  • Participate in ongoing training and community events as required.
  • Accurately and concurrently bill time.

Requirements

  • Practical experience from law school internships, clinics, or volunteer work in criminal law.
  • High energy and eagerness to learn.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Preparedness and punctuality.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality client service.
  • Admission to the California Bar and ability to attend court in the Bay Area.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Alameda County and the surrounding Bay Area.

Education

  • J.D. and in good standing with the State Bar of California.

Certifications

  • Admission to the California Bar.
