A law firm seeks a Claims Counsel II in Deerfield, IL, United States. Duties

  • Investigate, assess, and resolve third-party insurance casualty claims.
  • Analyze liability, damages, and policy coverage to develop strategic resolution approaches.
  • Work with external counsel to review pleadings and manage litigation plans and budgets.
  • Prepare written coverage determinations and collaborate with coverage counsel as needed.
  • Coordinate claims handling with insureds, claimants, and business partners.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active attorney's license.
  • 2+ years of experience in insurance claims, insurance defense, or coverage analysis.
  • Analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively in a high-volume claims environment.
  • Independent adjuster licenses, preferably in California and New York.
  • Experience with coverage analysis and drafting coverage letters.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Active attorney's license.
  • Independent adjuster licenses preferred.
