Job Overview: A law firm seeks a dedicated Associate Attorney to join its Overland Park, KS team, focusing on creditors' rights and civil litigation. This role requires a Kansas Bar license and is ideal for a motivated attorney with 0-3 years of litigation experience. The successful candidate will have a strong ability to manage high-volume casework and make court appearances. The role involves close collaboration with support staff and attorneys to ensure efficient operations and quality client service.

Duties:

  • Draft and review legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests, responses, and settlement agreements.
  • Engage in high-volume case management, handling emails, voicemails, and case documentation with promptness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with support staff and attorneys to optimize workflow and case management.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, opposing attorneys, and self-represented litigants.
  • Use independent judgment in making decisions related to case strategy, progress, and resolution.
  • Make court appearances, including travel for dockets, motion hearings, and trials as required.
  • Fulfill additional duties and participate in projects assigned by partners.

Requirements:

  • Kansas Bar License (Required).
  • 0-3 years of litigation experience, preferably in civil or creditors' rights litigation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle a high-volume caseload.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse parties.
  • Independent judgment and decision-making skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Kansas Bar membership.

Certifications:

  • Kansas Bar License.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and managing discovery processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with both support staff and attorneys.
  • Reliable judgment and problem-solving skills to independently progress cases.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment.
