Job Overview:
A growing family law practice in the Austin, Texas area is seeking a dedicated and motivated Associate Family Law Attorney to join its team. This position is ideal for candidates with at least one year of family law experience who are eager to manage their own docket, assist in litigation preparation, and grow within a collaborative and supportive legal environment. The role combines courtroom litigation, client interaction, and legal drafting, with opportunities for professional advancement and a flexible hybrid work model.

Location:

  • Austin, TX

Duties:

  • Manage family law cases from start to finish, including contested hearings, mediations, and trials

  • Conduct client consultations and provide legal advice

  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, decrees, and other legal documents

  • Handle discovery and trial preparation

  • Appear in court in Travis, Williamson, and Hays Counties

  • Provide litigation support to senior attorneys

  • Build strong relationships with clients, court staff, and colleagues

  • Participate in firm meetings, team collaboration, and professional development

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing family law

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Texas

  • Familiarity with court procedures and litigation in Texas family courts

  • Ability to manage or willingness to grow into managing a personal docket

  • Professional demeanor and the ability to remain composed in high-conflict situations

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Texas (required)

Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities

  • Comfortable using legal tools and technology (e.g., Clio, Westlaw Form Builder, Texas Family Law Practice Manual, Microsoft Word and Excel)

  • Ability to collaborate with a team and work independently

  • Empathetic and tactful communicator with clients and peers

  • Punctual, reliable, and highly productive
