Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Tax Associate in Baton Rouge, LA. This role involves advising individual and business clients on international, federal, state, and local tax issues, corporate formation, acquisitions, mergers, restructurings, and other transactional needs. The associate will also assist in teaching law school classes and presenting at tax conferences.

Duties

• Advise clients on tax implications and transactional needs.
• Assist in teaching law school classes on tax topics.
• Write articles for professional publications.
• Present at tax conferences.
• Manage federal tax audits and administrative appeals.
• Collaborate with a team to develop business strategies.

Requirements

• J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation required.
• Willing to take LA bar if licensed outside of LA.
• Proven business development track record.
• Experience teaching in a law school setting.
• Experience presenting at tax conferences.
• Former CPA, government experience, and/or experience with international tax issues required.

Education

• LL.M. in Taxation from NYU, Georgetown, or Northwestern (Pritzker).

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law.
