Duties:

• Lead and oversee litigation cases on behalf of nonprofit organizations.
• Advise nonprofit clients on various legal issues, including compliance, contracts, and organizational governance.
• Develop and implement long-term strategies to address potential changes in federal law or executive actions.
• Conduct legal research to support ongoing cases and provide counsel to clients.
• Ensure strict adherence to data security protocols, safeguarding client information.
• Engage in coalition building and work with other stakeholders to strengthen client positions.
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and settlements where applicable.
• Provide ongoing guidance to nonprofit clients on legal risks and best practices.

Requirements:

• 3-8 years of experience in litigation, preferably with a focus on nonprofit organizations or civil rights issues.
• Strong legal research skills and the ability to distill complex legal information into actionable advice.
• High comfort level with maintaining strict data security and confidentiality protocols.
• A passion for social justice and advocacy.
• Experience working with nonprofit clients or in a general counsel role is a plus.
• Ability to think strategically and plan for future legal challenges.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the State Bar of California.
