Job Title: Associate Attorney - Pasadena, CA

Job Overview:
A Pasadena-based boutique law firm, recognized for its focus on complex domestic relations matters, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its litigation team. This position offers the opportunity to develop and refine trial skills while working on emotionally and legally intricate family law cases. Ideal for early-career attorneys ready to engage in impactful legal work within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Duties:

  • Handle contested family law cases involving custody, support, and property disputes

  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests/responses, declarations, and settlement agreements

  • Prepare for and attend court hearings, settlement conferences, and trials

  • Perform comprehensive legal research utilizing platforms such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw

  • Engage directly with clients to provide legal guidance and develop case strategies

  • Participate in negotiation sessions to resolve disputes outside of court

  • Maintain detailed case files and track critical deadlines

  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to deliver exceptional client service

Requirements:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the California State Bar

  • Between 1-5 years of experience practicing law, preferably with litigation exposure

  • Demonstrated interest or background in family law is considered a plus

  • Capable of managing multiple active cases with minimal supervision

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active California Bar License

Skills:

  • Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills

  • Skilled in legal research and statutory interpretation
