Job Overview

A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced Principal Attorney specializing in Commercial Contracts to join its Business Practice Group. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in contract negotiation across diverse industries, especially within the consumer goods and consumer products sectors. The position offers a sophisticated platform for managing a portable book of business while collaborating with a team of attorneys across multiple offices, with significant opportunities for leadership and growth.

Location

Duties

  • Draft, negotiate, and review a wide variety of commercial contracts, including:

    • Manufacturing Agreements

    • Distribution Agreements

    • Sales Broker Agreements

    • Raw Material Supply Agreements

    • Packaging Supply Agreements

    • Equipment Leases and Purchase Agreements

    • Product Purchase, Sale, and Supply Agreements

  • Advise clients on contract law principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance

  • Provide strategic counsel on operational and transactional matters across various industries

  • Collaborate with attorneys from other practice groups to support multidisciplinary transactions

  • Manage client relationships, ensuring timely and responsive communication

  • Participate in business development efforts to grow the firm’s client base

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial contract drafting, negotiation, and review

  • Proven ability to manage significant transactional matters independently

  • Experience advising clients in the consumer goods and/or consumer products industries

  • Portable book of business required

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a client-service-focused mindset

  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment

  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and project leadership skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law

Skills

  • Expertise in contract negotiation and risk mitigation strategies

  • In-depth understanding of supply chain agreements and operational contracts

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities

  • Ability to manage a high volume of transactional matters efficiently

  • Skilled in building long-term client relationships and providing proactive legal advice
