Job Overview:

A globally recognized law firm is seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel-level attorney to join its Financial Services practice. This role emphasizes regulatory matters concerning the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), commodities, swaps, and derivatives. The ideal candidate will work with a high-performing, collaborative team advising clients across financial and energy markets on complex compliance and enforcement issues. This opportunity provides broad exposure to cross-border work and cutting-edge financial products.

Location:

  • Dallas, TX

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on compliance with the Commodity Exchange Act and CFTC regulations

  • Draft, review, and negotiate swaps and derivatives trading documentation

  • Support clients with regulatory inquiries and enforcement actions involving the CFTC or other agencies

  • Advise clients operating in financial, energy, and power trading markets

  • Contribute to the development of client strategy on commodities regulation and related matters

  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas and jurisdictions on complex regulatory matters

Requirements:

  • 5–10 years of legal experience in financial services regulation

  • Extensive knowledge of CFTC rules and the Commodity Exchange Act

  • Experience working with swaps and derivatives documentation and regulation

  • Demonstrated ability to counsel clients in the financial and energy sectors

  • Proven capacity to manage complex legal matters collaboratively and independently

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • In good standing with licensing authority

Skills:

  • Expertise in U.S. regulatory frameworks for commodities and derivatives

  • Familiarity with FERC regulations in the energy sector (preferred)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and drafting capabilities
