Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Law and Motion Attorney - Associate in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will draft substantive motions and appellate briefs, including motions for summary judgment, and assist with litigation tasks related to research, writing, law, and motion.

Duties

  • Stay abreast of changes in laws and precedents to ensure the accuracy and relevance of legal arguments.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis of statutes, regulations, and case law to develop persuasive legal arguments.
  • Draft, file, and argue legal briefs and memoranda in state and federal courts.
  • Prepare and respond to pleadings, motions, and appellate briefs.
  • Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings and work with senior attorneys to provide legal advice.
  • Regularly communicate with partners, associates, paralegals, clients, and opposing counsel.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Current California bar admission, in good standing.
  • 2+ years of experience, employment law background strongly preferred.
  • Excellent writer with attention to detail.
  • Effective oral communication skills.
  • Must be a team player with exceptional personal interaction skills and responsiveness.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of current state and federal procedures.
  • Must be comfortable handling court appearances.
  • Trial experience is preferred, but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Current California bar admission, in good standing.
