Job Overview

A boutique law firm located in Lenox, Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join its expanding Trusts & Estates and Elder Law practice. This senior-level position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys working closely with individuals and families to craft strategic, tax-efficient estate plans while helping clients navigate asset protection, long-term care, and elder law matters. Location

Duties

  • Draft and review estate planning documents, including:

    • Wills

    • Revocable trusts

    • Durable powers of attorney

    • Health care proxies and HIPAA releases

  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel on estate, tax, and asset protection planning

  • Develop and implement income, gift, and estate tax minimization strategies

  • Form and administer various types of trusts, including:

    • Life insurance trusts

    • Charitable trusts

    • Irrevocable and special needs trusts

  • Establish and maintain limited liability companies (LLCs) for asset protection

  • Advise on Massachusetts and federal estate tax compliance and administration

  • Present at educational events, including seminars, webinars, and workshops

  • Collaborate with care coordinators and benefits specialists on long-term care planning

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and their financial advisors

Requirements

  • Experience in estate planning; elder law experience preferred

  • Experience in trust and estate administration, asset protection, and tax strategy

  • Ability to manage complex client matters independently

  • Strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to exceptional client service

  • Interest in leadership and business development, including potential firm growth initiatives

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active and good-standing member of the Massachusetts Bar

  • New York admission acceptable with willingness to obtain Massachusetts Bar license

Skills

  • Proficient in drafting sophisticated estate and trust documents

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to present legal concepts in a clear and client-friendly manner

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., care coordinators, tax professionals)
