A law firm seeks a highly motivated Oil and Gas Title Attorney in Columbus, OH. This full-time position requires expertise in oil and gas law, particularly in the Appalachia region. The successful candidate will collaborate with senior attorneys to deliver precise and timely solutions to clients.

Duties

  • Conduct title examinations to determine ownership of oil and gas properties.
  • Analyze documents such as deeds, leases, and contracts to establish ownership rights.
  • Draft title opinions identifying defects, liens, or issues affecting property ownership.
  • Perform due diligence for oil and gas transactions, including mergers and acquisitions.
  • Provide legal guidance on risks and strategies for mitigating issues in transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with laws.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local regulations affecting the industry.
  • Collaborate with litigation attorneys when legal action is necessary.
  • Work with team members to ensure seamless execution of legal transactions.
  • Meet quarterly billable requirement of 450 hours.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license with at least one year of experience drafting title opinions in Ohio, West Virginia, or Pennsylvania.
  • Experience preparing large, unit-wide division order ownerships.
  • Strong commitment to ethical practice and client confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Passion for professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
