Job Overview:
A Florida-based law firm is currently seeking an experienced Tax Deed Attorney to support its growing real estate and surplus funds division. This position focuses on evaluating title records, issuing legal opinions, and handling entitlement to surplus proceeds following tax deed sales. The role is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in title review, real estate transactions, or foreclosure law.

Location:

  • Stuart, Florida

Duties:

  • Examine property titles and related public records for tax deed properties

  • Draft and issue legal opinions on entitlement to surplus proceeds under Florida law

  • Interpret and apply relevant statutes, case law, and title insurance policies

  • Assist in litigation concerning surplus funds entitlement disputes

  • Communicate with clients, claimants, title companies, and court personnel

  • Manage documentation and maintain case progress through the firm’s case management system

  • Provide strategic input on complex title and surplus matters

  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case handling

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in real estate law, title review, foreclosure, or closings

  • Familiarity with Florida tax deed laws and surplus recovery procedures preferred

  • Proficiency in analyzing encumbrance priority and drafting legal opinions

  • Litigation experience involving real estate or foreclosure matters is a plus

  • Strong organizational, writing, and legal analysis capabilities

  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while contributing to a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar

Skills:

  • Title examination and legal opinion drafting

  • Real estate and foreclosure law knowledge
