Job Overview:
A law firm in Olympia, WA, seeks an Estates Attorney I with strong legal research, writing, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have trial experience; mediation experience is highly preferred. The attorney will be responsible for researching and analyzing complex legal issues, drafting various legal documents, marketing services to potential clients, managing client communication, and ensuring timely approval of invoices. This position requires a proactive approach to brand expansion through social media, blogs, and community engagement.

Duties:

  • Researching and analyzing the law on complex legal issues.
  • Drafting memorandums, briefs, letters, and other legal documents.
  • Marketing the attorney's and the firm's services to prospective clients.
  • Conducting discovery of electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for litigation.
  • Performing due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Communicating and advising clients effectively.
  • Managing a schedule to allow for consultations and closure of consultations to meet production objectives.
  • Closing consultations within the firm's 30-50% range, depending on the practice area.
  • Timely approval of invoices is critical to the business's health on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure support staff are fully utilized and productive.
  • Accurately updating case management systems with fees, engagement, trust, client information, and invoices.
  • Sharing work tasks with other attorneys and support staff to meet community service objectives.
  • Actively engaging in brand expansion through blogs, social media posts, and participation in boards and organizations.
  • Seeking positive feedback from successful client engagements and encouraging positive star reviews.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong legal research skills.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
  • Admission (or eligibility for reciprocal admission) to the WA Bar.
  • 3+ years of experience as an attorney.
