Job Overview

A nationally recognized plaintiff-side litigation firm is seeking a full-time Litigation Associate to join its St. Louis, Missouri office. This position focuses on complex asbestos litigation and provides hands-on experience across all stages of litigation. The ideal candidate will have strong case management skills, empathy for clients, and a drive to advocate for individuals suffering from mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. The role offers substantial mentorship and trial development opportunities in a fully on-site, collaborative environment.

Location

  • St. Louis, Missouri

Duties

  • Manage complex asbestos-related litigation from case intake through trial

  • Conduct case investigation, document review, and legal research

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses

  • Take and defend depositions of clients, witnesses, and experts

  • Argue motions in court and support trial teams

  • Prepare for trial and serve as second or third chair, with growth potential to first-chair responsibilities

  • Maintain frequent communication with clients and their families

  • Develop familiarity with asbestos exposure sources and mesothelioma-related medical terminology

  • Collaborate with team members in a high-volume litigation setting

Requirements

  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong commitment to plaintiff-side advocacy and client service

  • Willingness to travel for depositions and hearings

  • Empathy and ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Missouri, or eligibility to waive in

  • Illinois bar admission is a plus

Skills

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in asbestos litigation (plaintiff-side preferred)

  • Trial preparation, motion practice, and deposition experience

  • Judicial clerkship experience strongly considered
