Associate Attorney needed for Gilbert office

Job Title:
Associate Attorney – Criminal Defense Division (Hybrid)

Job Overview:
A Gilbert-based law firm, known for its client-focused, multidisciplinary legal practice, is currently expanding its Criminal Defense Division. This opportunity is ideal for a dedicated litigator with a strong passion for defending individual rights and navigating high-stakes criminal matters. The role offers a hybrid schedule and the chance to work with a supportive legal team committed to delivering top-tier client service across the state.

Duties:

• Manage a caseload of criminal matters, including misdemeanors and felonies

• Represent clients in court for hearings, bench trials, and jury trials

• Draft motions, discovery requests, pleadings, and legal memoranda

• Meet directly with clients to develop a strategy and assess case status

• Supervise and delegate to legal assistants and paralegals within the division

• Handle cases such as DUI, assault, domestic violence, theft, drug-related charges, and criminal traffic offenses

• Maintain meticulous records and ensure timely court filings

• Travel throughout Arizona as necessary to represent clients in various jurisdictions

• Collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining a client-first mindset

Requirements:

• Active license to practice law in Arizona, in good standing

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in criminal law (either as defense counsel or prosecutor)

• Demonstrated courtroom presence and ability to think quickly under pressure

• Strong negotiation and client advocacy skills

• High standard of professionalism in both appearance and demeanor

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• State Bar of Arizona - Active and in Good Standing

Skills:

• Proficient in legal research and case law analysis

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset

• Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and managing priorities

• Willingness to perform all tasks necessary to support client outcomes, including occasional administrative work
