Trusts & Estates Associate

A law firm seeks an entry-level Trusts & Estates Associate to join its growing team in Fargo, ND. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney with a background or interest in estate planning, particularly those with a finance, accounting, or business background. The ideal candidate will work with a supportive team, gaining experience in trust administration, estate planning, and other related matters.

Duties

• Assist in drafting estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
• Conduct research on estate planning and trust law issues.
• Support senior attorneys in managing client accounts and estate administration processes.
• Communicate with clients to gather information, explain legal concepts, and address client inquiries.
• Assist in the preparation of tax returns related to trusts and estates.
• Collaborate with other departments within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services.

Requirements

• Strong interest or background in estate planning, trusts, and related legal matters.
• Ability to handle complex legal documents and manage client relationships effectively.
• High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing individual responsibilities.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active attorney license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Ability to obtain admission to the North Dakota Bar if not already licensed.
