Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate to join the Tax group of its national Public Finance practice in Columbus, OH. This role is ideal for an attorney with experience or interest in public finance, tax (Section 103), and tax-exempt bonds, offering the opportunity to work closely with experienced partners in a collaborative environment.

Duties

  • Conduct tax-related due diligence for municipal bonds.
  • Draft tax documents, forms, and closing certifications.
  • Review tax disclosures for official statements.
  • Advise on tax-favored structuring of municipal debt financings.
  • Assist with arbitrage rebate compliance and related matters.
  • Represent clients in IRS examinations of bond issues.
  • Provide advice on tax accounting of bond payments.
  • Assist with tax matters concerning interest rate swap transactions.
  • Counsel on miscellaneous tax issues related to bonds.
  • Serve as counsel on federal income tax implications of tax-exempt bonds.
  • Research tax law changes and prepare informational documents.

  • Must be admitted to practice in Washington or Nebraska or able to be admitted within the first year.
  • 1+ years of experience in public finance or tax law preferred.
  • LL.M. in taxation preferred but not required.
