Job Overview

A well-established regional law firm is seeking an energetic and ambitious Litigation Associate to join its practice in Barrington, IL. This position offers the opportunity to handle a wide variety of litigation matters, with a mix of plaintiff and defense work, across state and federal courts. Ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in civil litigation and a desire to actively participate in depositions, motion practice, and trial support. Both in-office and hybrid remote/in-office work arrangements are available.

Duties

  • Handle all stages of civil litigation in state and federal courts

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda

  • Conduct legal and factual research

  • Propound and respond to written discovery

  • Manage depositions, hearings, and trial preparation

  • Support senior attorneys during trials

  • Collaborate with clients, experts, and witnesses

  • Maintain organized case files and timely document filings

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of active civil litigation experience

  • Experience handling plaintiff and/or defense matters

  • Competence in all stages of litigation, including independent execution of tasks

  • Demonstrated superior writing and research abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (Required)
