Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Bankruptcy Attorney to join its Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights team. The position is open to candidates in any of the firm's office locations. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience in bankruptcy matters, representing clients in court proceedings, negotiations, and restructuring efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Represent corporate debtors, creditors, lenders, and trustees in bankruptcy proceedings and related litigation.
  • Advise clients on restructuring strategies, insolvency planning, and asset protection.
  • Draft and file bankruptcy petitions, disclosure statements, reorganization plans, and other pleadings.
  • Handle bankruptcy-related litigation and negotiate creditor agreements.
  • Collaborate with corporate finance and litigation teams on complex cross-practice matters.
  • Conduct legal research, draft memos, and provide strategic counsel on bankruptcy law and commercial implications.
  • Attend hearings and court proceedings as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, regularly communicating to understand their business objectives and provide tailored legal advice.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the state bar of Virginia.
  • Previous experience handling bankruptcy matters.
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and related laws.
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client-relations skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Client-focused with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
