Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney - Litigation to join its legal team in Plano, Texas. This role involves managing the firm's litigation portfolio, including contested matters and creditor's rights issues, while providing strategic legal guidance to financial institution clients.

Duties

  • Manage a portfolio of 50-75 active litigation cases from initiation through resolution.
  • Act as lead counsel in all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation, pleadings, discovery, and trial.
  • Represent clients in contested matters and firm-related litigation.
  • Provide legal strategy, case planning, and timely status updates to clients.
  • Negotiate settlements and manage risk exposure efficiently.
  • Supervise procedural implementations and provide legal guidance to staff.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state, federal, and client-specific requirements.
  • Monitor changes in relevant laws and recommend procedural updates as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned to support department goals.
  • May occasionally work extended hours based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience as lead counsel in contested litigation representing financial institutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
  • Proficient in legal research tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or equivalent.
  • Experience with default litigation and banking law in Texas preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • Admission to practice before all four federal district courts in Texas.
