Job Overview:
A client-focused immigration law firm based in Aurora, IL, is seeking a Managing Immigration Attorney with substantial experience in removal defense and affirmative immigration law. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish, have excellent leadership skills, and be dedicated to furthering the firm’s mission: “To Give Immigrants the Greatest Chance of Success.” This full-time position offers a collaborative, supportive work environment with a strong emphasis on work-life balance and professional growth.

Location:

  • Aurora, IL

Duties:

  • Lead client consultations, identify legal issues, and sign client contracts

  • Represent clients in USCIS interviews and Immigration Court (Master Calendar & Individual Hearings)

  • Draft and review legal documents including motions, briefs, and court filings

  • Oversee EOIR-related filings, including I-589 and Pre-Hearing Statements

  • Prepare and train clients for USCIS and EOIR proceedings

  • Supervise legal assistants and paralegals, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met

  • Maintain court calendars and manage complex case timelines

  • Conduct legal research and apply immigration case law and EOIR policies

  • Coordinate between EOIR and affirmative (USCIS) case processes

  • Proactively contribute to improving internal processes and efficiency

  • Ethically leverage available legal research tools and technology

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Active attorney license in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction)

  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken)

  • 5+ years of immigration law experience (10+ preferred)

  • Proven record in removal defense, asylum, cancellation of removal, and affirmative applications

  • Strong courtroom experience with Immigration Court

  • Skilled in client relations, case management, and legal research

  • Positive, dependable, self-motivated, and organized

  • Willingness to collaborate and take initiative in a small-firm environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in any U.S. state

  • Immigration experience must include EOIR and USCIS representation

Skills:

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)

  • Legal writing and oral advocacy
