A law firm seeks a mid-level associate attorney to join its Municipal Tax & Creditors' Rights practice group in Pittsburgh, PA. This role involves supporting public sector clients across a range of legal matters, including tax collection, zoning, compliance, and litigation. The position offers a collaborative work environment and opportunities for professional growth.

Duties

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and memoranda.
  • Advise public sector clients on compliance with laws such as the Right-to-Know Law, the Sunshine Act, and the Ethics Act.
  • Represent clients in zoning matters, including applications for variances, special exceptions, and conditional uses.
  • Assist with drafting and enforcement of municipal codes and ordinances.
  • Attend and provide counsel during school district, municipal, and public board meetings and hearings.
  • Research and advise on local tax issues, including compliance and enforcement.
  • Represent clients in court on public sector matters, including:
    • Real estate tax and municipal claims.
    • Earned income tax and local tax collection actions in magistrate court, arbitration, and civil court.
    • Quiet title actions and other real estate-related litigation.

Requirements

  • Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar and eligibility to practice law in the state.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with public sector clients.
  • Proven experience in areas such as municipal tax collection, real estate law, land development, and litigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a dynamic workload and adapt to changing priorities.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Pennsylvania Bar license.
