Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Class Action Counsel, Brief Writer to work remotely from anywhere in the United States. This role focuses on brief writing in class actions, collective actions, and PAGA matters, allowing attorneys to concentrate on their strengths in legal writing and strategy development.

Duties

  • Draft substantive motions and briefs, including motions to dismiss, demurrers, and motions to compel arbitration.
  • Prepare mediation briefs for class, collective, and/or PAGA matters.
  • Oppose conditional and/or class certifications and draft motions for summary judgment.
  • Consult with trial teams to formulate briefing strategies.
  • Analyze case facts and apply legal authority to create persuasive arguments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of legal experience in wage and hour and class, collective, and/or representative actions.
  • Significant experience in California wage and hour class action and/or PAGA litigation.
  • Active bar license in the candidate's state of residence; California bar license preferred.

Education

  • Excellent academic credentials required.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the candidate's state of residence.

Skills

  • Ability to draft effective and persuasive factual and legal arguments.
  • Capable of handling briefings in multiple complex matters with confidence.
