Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Real Estate Tax Attorney for its Homewood, IL office. The successful candidate will have over two years of experience in property tax appeals and be licensed in Illinois. This role requires strong writing and analytical skills, with a focus on commercial, industrial, and investment properties.

Duties

  • Assist with property tax appeals, including preparation and filing of complaints and evidence.
  • Analyze properties and draft briefs for income-producing and owner-occupied properties.
  • Interpret assessment records and histories.
  • Monitor and assist with tax objection cases in the Circuit Court of Cook County.
  • Communicate with clients and county representatives regarding appeals and settlements.
  • Maintain a docket and assist with tax incentives.
  • Support the Real Estate Department with tax proration issues.
  • Compose documents using correct grammar and spelling.
  • Participate in Continuing Legal Education trainings.

Requirements

  • Experience with Access database preferred.
