Job Overview:
A forward-thinking, general practice law firm based in Central Minnesota is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to focus primarily on family law with additional exposure to criminal and other practice areas. Location:

  • Brainerd, Minnesota

Duties:

  • Handle family law cases from intake through resolution, including client consultations, legal drafting, and court representation

  • Conduct legal research to support litigation and transactional matters

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence in compliance with state laws and court rules

  • Represent clients in negotiations, hearings, and legal proceedings

  • Manage and develop an independent caseload

  • Collaborate with colleagues and staff across multiple practice areas

  • Contribute to firm growth by exploring new areas of interest within legal practice

Requirements:

  • Ability to manage and maintain an independent client and case load

  • Strong interest in family law, with openness to additional practice areas

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to interact with clients with professionalism and empathy

  • Willingness to work both in-office and remotely as needed

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active and in good standing with the Minnesota State Bar (required)

Skills:

  • Legal research and writing proficiency

  • Strong case management and organizational abilities

  • Effective advocacy and negotiation techniques

  • Familiarity with Minnesota family law procedures

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
