Jim Byrd is a veteran business attorney and executive who brings a unique blend of both legal and entrepreneurial skills to practice of law. Jim has served as attorney, strategic adviser, venture capital partner and corporate executive to both private and public companies in his distinguished 35 year career.
Jim began his career as an attorney at Baker & Hostetler prior to founding the law firm of Schoene, Byrd, Piercefield & Heinkel, a full service commercial firm, where Jim served as Managing Partner (1989-1993). As a corporate and securities attorney, Jim has extensive experience in public and private offerings, going public transactions and mergers and acquisitions. Also an experienced trial lawyer, Jim has tried cases in both state and federal courts, and in front of FINRA, and has appeared before the Florida Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals.
In addition, Jim has owned and managed a private equity and venture capital firm, working with growing companies in the technology, media, manufacturing, distribution, automotive, oil and gas, real estate, and health and wellness industries. He has served, at times, as Chairman, CEO and Director of numerous private and public companies, including Vice Chairman of Success Magazine, N.Y. (1998-2000).
