Michael J. Zacharias is a Founding Partner of Zacharias & Shepherd, LLP. Michael concentrates his litigation practice on white collar defense, government investigations, creditor's rights, civil and real estate litigation. In his real estate litigation practice, Michael represents trusts, estates, corporations, leaders, financial institutions, and servicers in various real estate matters, including the entirety of foreclosure proceedings, from commencement through redemption, sale or other disposition and conducting residential and commercial real estate closings.
Michael also focuses his practice on advising and representing individuals and corporations in all aspects of federal, state, and local government investigations, criminal proceedings and civil litigation relating to Medicare and Medicaid fraud, bank fraud, credit card fraud, mortgage fraud, computer/internet fraud, ponzi schemes, embezzlement, money laundering and bribery/bribe receiving, as well as False Claims Act investigations.
Michael has represented clients in proffer sessions, plea negotiations and cooperation agreements, as well as, document production in response to governmental subpoenas. Further, Michael has acted as outside general counsel to a national tax lien servicing corporation and as outside litigation counsel to a New York City Charter School. Michael is admitted in New York State and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
