JAG Shaw Baker

James is a co-founder of JAG Shaw Baker, with over 15 years of international venture capital and private equity transactional experience, both investor and company side, with a particular focus on life sciences and emerging technologies. James qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 2000 and has formerly practised at both SJ Berwin LLP and as a Partner of Brown Rudnick LLP. James, a graduate of both St Andrews University (B.Sc.(Hons)) and Edinburgh University (LL.B.), is a regular speaker at events on venture capital and life science investments, has authored many papers on the subject, and was a key member of the BVCA committee responsible for preparing model venture investment documents. James is ranked as a leading individual in the 2013 edition of Legal 500 for venture capital. James is a director of the Conservation Capital group of companies and is general counsel to Grampian BioPartners Limited and to a Malaysian oncology business. James is also a Writer to Her Majesty's Signet.
