Mr. Bernstein has practiced intellectual property law and litigation for 35 years. He also has served as a mediator and is able to employ alternative dispute resolution techniques to avoid or curtail litigation where possible.
Mr. Bernstein is a graduate of Princeton University, cum laude, and the University of Michigan Law School, cum laude. He has served as the President of The Copyright Society of the U.S.A.; as Chairman of the Copyright Law Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA); and as Secretary of the AIPLA and a member of its Board of Directors. He is a frequent author and lecturer on copyright law, and has been co-author of the New York Law Journal Copyright Law Column for over 15 years.
Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Bernstein was a partner at the New York law firm of Cowan Liebowitz & Latman for over 20 years and a litigation associate at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson. From 1975 to 1976 he served as law clerk to the Honorable Richard P. Matsch of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
