Sonneborn Rutter Cooney & Smith PA is a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated law firm located in West Palm Beach serving clients throughout Florida. The firm was founded by Joseph P. Metzger and Barbara W. Sonneborn in 1983 and quickly gained recognition as a preeminent defense firm. In 1988, the Honorable R. William Rutter Jr., then Chief Judge of the 15th Judicial Circuit, joined the firm as a named partner. Following the death of Mr. Metzger in 1992, the firm moved to its present location. In 2011, the firm name was changed to Sonneborn Rutter Cooney & Smith PA.
