Here is a large Houston firm that has a small firm atmosphere. While this firm practices several different types of law, it is most noted for the strength of its corporate practice. When a talented candidate comes along, as we have seen again and again, this firm will compete very hard to ensure they get them. The atmosphere of this firm does feel quite congenial. Nevertheless, there is an intensity to this place, and the associates who work here are all pretty uniformly motivated to do extremely well. This firm has a very strong national practice and much of the work it does from its Houston office even encompasses international projects. One thing we like about this firm is that associates of all levels seem to have good things to say about the fact that they all get significant client contact. The firm also does a fairly solid job mentoring its associates and associates who join the firm are generally monitored pretty well to ensure they do not get excessive workloads and that they are getting exposed to a wide variety of work. We should point out that the work that this firm does is extremely sophisticated and lateral candidates coming from firms where they did not get as much hands on experience are often surprised by the sophistication of the work this firm does. This firm has been known to pay its associates very generous bonuses and surprise them by the timing of its bonus payments.SKILLS
